This BLEVE occurred on the BR-010 highway in Paragominas, northeast of Pará, Brazil, on July 3, 2024.

At least six people were injured, including firefighters and a news crew (July 3, 2024).

The news crew suffered second-degree burns but received medical attention at a Regional Hospital and are expected to make full recoveries. The news team was at least 1,000' from the tanker truck when it BLEVE'd.

The firefighters suffered first-degree burns, as their turnout gear minimized their injuries.

The truck driver reported that something had come up from the road and struck the tanker, so he decided to pull over and investigate. He noticed the leak on the piping under the tanker, and knowing what the leak may lead to, he dropped the trailer and drove away due to the risk of an explosion.  The leak ignited approximately 10 minutes later (based on witness accounts).  This created a "jet fire" impinging on the tanker.  Approximately 30 minutes later, the BLEVE occurred.
